Question: How soon is to soon to give a baby a sleep aid?my 2.5 month old baby doses not want to sleep, she has nightmares i swear it is not gas, the poor thing is scared to sleep as she wakes up screaming and crying shortly after. she will sleep for a few hours during the day but not enough to keep her from being crabby, she will cry for a long time at bed time and the doctor said it was not colic, i give her mylicon just in case it is a gas problem, but i do get her to burp, and she farts plenty, normal boul movements. i dont know what could be causing the dreams, other than they started after she met her father for the first time a week ago, but i was there the whole viset and he never did any thing that i thought would scare her. i hate to see her so scared and her poor little eyes are red from no sleep, as well as mine. the olny thing i can think of to give us both a peacefull sleep is a sleep aid, do you think that she is to young, would it hurt her, i just dont know what to do, please i nned sleep and my poor baby needs releaf
Answer: The best advice I can give is NOT to give your baby a sleep aid. She is definitely too young! Call and get an appointment for her to see her doctor. They will help a lot! Maybe she just wants to be held a little more by her mommy Also, she could still be hungry or she has been overfed. She could also have acid reflux. My daughter had that for months, until she was about 10 1/2 months old. It makes them so uncomfortable. Anyways, take her to the doctor, they will tell you what to do. Hope things get better! I know it is stressful not to get much sleep and have a cranky baby, but remember, she is just a tiny baby and can't help it. Maybe you can get your mom or a trustworthy friend to come and take care of the baby while you take a short nap and get a fresh start. That will work wonders. The baby can feel your stress!
