Question: Natural cures for insomnia and nightmares?Okay, I have had insomnia for the past 5 years, and it's getting unmanagable. I am not a candidate for medication, because I have medical problems that would make it a dangerous situation. Basically, I could take the right amount and overdose, or I'd sleep for 16 hours straight (this has happened.) And, on the rare occasion I do fall asleep without 'passing out' from exhaustion, I have these horrible nightmares that make me: wake up, talk, or kick my boyfriend in the groin.
Answer: The human neurological system depends on the Vitamin B group for proper function, but there are also comcomitant vitamins and supplements that can help.I would begin with taking a complete Vitamin B-Complex supplement regularly at bedtime.I would also supplement Essential Fatty Acids as they are vital in the assimilation of certain vitamins and for the proper functioning of nerve paths. You want to look for them in a health food store - just ask the sales person for a complete Essential Fatty Acids supplement. So far, we're only talking about general good health.Next, to help you get to sleep:don't eat within 2 hours of bed time.Don't drink alcohol within 2 hrs of bed time.Don't drink coffee, orange juice, or tea within 2-4 hrs of bed time.Stop watching TV and rather read a book when you go to bed. Something not too exciting yet entertaining. You'll find yourself caught up in the story and forget about your own concerns, plus you'll already be in bed and ready to sleep.Take a nice warm bath within 1 hour of bedtime. Play SOFT music.
