Non Prescription Sleeping Pills

Question: I take sleeping pills and pain medication which are non prescription sometimes?i am pregnant will this pills affect the baby and myself?

Answer: Any medication you take during a pregnancy could potentially harm a foetus. The only medication for pain that is safe during pregnancy is Acetaminophen (Tylenol, Entrophen...) Aspirin could cause you to bleed; and Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or Naproxen (Aleve) are anti-inflammatories and could create heart defects in your baby. As for sleeping aids, they are often anti-histamine medication, and they are also counter-indicated during a pregnancy. Please tell your physician or a pharmacist of any medication you need, they will recommend alternate treatments.
