Question: Sleep apnea and tonsils?Hi. I'm 14 years old and I have medium-largish tonsils. I've seen the doctor about it, and they sent me to a medical center for a slep study. I haven't heard the report yet, I'm going to hear it tomorrow. But I know that I have some degree of sleep apnea.I'm wondering, what are the negative things about having tonsils? I often have a hard time breathing, especially after running, but I don't "choke" in my sleep at all. I tend to get sore throats in the fall and winter. Is it also true that you loose weight after getting them removed? I've never had surgery... and the thought kinda freaks me out. Answer: do you know this is really funny. Right now my 7 year old granddaughter is at the doctors right now for a sleep apnea test for her tonsils too. When she sleeps she makes such horrible noises that it sounds like she swollowed a party horn or something, what is the idea of a sleep apnea test, I remember growing up all they did was take out your tonsils and that was it. Make sure you get back on and let me know what they did and what happened to you
