Question: Help i have the worst pregnancy insomnia ever!!!?I need some advice on how to switch off so to speak so i can sleep, this is my third pregnancy and sleeping hasnt gotten any easier im 36 weeks and even though ihave 2 other chilren ( 6yrs and 2 yrs) i still cant sleep at night , but find myself so tired i cant keep my eyes open during the day i resist the urge to sleep during the day in hoping that i will sleep well at night( also the fact i have a 2 yr old running around makes sleeping during the day impossible anyway) but to no avail, any ideas???
Answer: Talk to your doctor. Even herbal remedies like chamomile tea and other "soothing" teas are banned for most pregnant women. Make sure you're not too hot and make sure you have a comfortable body pillow to help support your growing baby. Sometimes taking a cool shower or a warm shower can help. Most people get drowsy after a warm shower. You can also eat a baked potato before bed, skin and all, with no protein, a small baked sweet potato, a bowl oatmeal (Quick oats not instant), or warm milk and banana. Those are methods I've seen recommended on TV shows that happened to be talking about the effects of these foods. You could also try eating a turkey breast sandwich. Turkey has a sleep-inducing effect, too.
