Question: Why dont sleep-aid medicines work on me when i am sick ?i've had a cold/flu for the past few days and cant get any sleep. i tried taking over-the-counter sleep aid medications, which normally help me, but to no avail. one of the types of medicines, i usually take only one and i am out for the rest of the night. but, i took 2 of those and dont even get sleepy. i need rest, more than an hour or so here and there, in order to get my strenghth built back up. is it just me or does being sick change the medicines effect on me ?? help soon....
Answer: Did you take medicines for your cold/flu? Because it can be a reason why it is hard for you to fall asleep even though you take 2 of those sleep aids you were talking. Actually, an over-the-counter sleep aid is effective but the truth is that otc has nasty side effects that can interact badly with your current medications and this cause you to be unable to sleep and I guess it would be better if you stop taking otc sleep aid if you don't want to deal with its side effects in the near future.
