Question: Has anybody every used the SUAD - an oral device - to help correct Sleep Apnea?i have mild sleep apnea and i am soon to begin using a SUAD. it is an oral device that keeps the tongue and lower jaw in place to prevent it from blocking the airway. i am searching for any personal feedback.
Answer: I have heard from patients that used it and said they prefer the CPAP. I guess the SUAD causes some strain on the jaw muscles and you wake up with your mouth hurting. I have also heard some complaints of very dry mouth with it as well.I concur with crys. However, it's the only approved device for any of our personnel that serve in the armed forces and have to go overseas. It's a tradeoff. Perhaps your dentist could give you a list of past patients that use the device who would be willing to speak to you with regards to its pros and cons.
