 | Sleep Apnea Testing |

Question: I cannot sleep. I am pretty sure I have sleep apnea, but I have no insurance and cannot afford testing.?Apparantly the testing is ridiculusly expensive, even with insurance. My Dr. has perscribed me Restoril which is a heavy sleep aid. It does put me to sleep, but I wake up within a few hours after it wares off. I generally get about 3-4 hrs. of sleep a night. I am so tired I feel like crying all the time and I constantly feel sick. Does anyone have any ideas until I can afford the Apnea testing. (please don't suggest nasal strips, they do not work).
Answer: I thought sleep apnea means you stop breathing while sleeping..seems to me Airway, Breathing and Circulation should be at the top of the list for ol Doc! Regardless of whether one has insurance they cannot be turned away from treatment when it is a life threatening situation. This sounds like a potential life threatening situation to me. Get a lawyer to help you get the treatment you need. There are lawyers out there who don't charge until afterwards. If you have to sue ol doc or the hospital to get the treatment they will have to pay for mal-practice and there is your money right there.http://provigil.com/patient/disorders/ap...This says don't sleep on your back, SEE BOTTOM OF PAGE for CRAP that is what it is called. Seriously..says it is a face mask and pump that you wear at night. It forces air into you while you sleep.
