Question: Need assistance on understanding impulsive behavior? Possible personality disorder and states of denial?My x-girlfriend and I split up over a year ago, and I have waited on her for a long time, patiently. She has slept with a couple of people, heavily drinking, partying, constantly having new "best friends". She continues to say she is "happy", but just the other night I was there with her for the first time and she admitted to have slept with others and apologized and cried and while crying she was shaking. She acted as if she was just deeply remorseful, but of course 5 minuets later she is smiling and "So happy you are in my house, I cant believe it". This is after I told her I forgave her for everything. But she is so impetuous, back and forth. The next day she seemed completly different, just very inhibited (her personality from the night before), then she say Im " always like this, just happy" but the night before she was balling and such in a different state. Anyways, she is seemingly unstable but wont admit to it. She wants to be with me, but says she is thinking about i?NEED HELP
Answer: She doesn't seem that unusual to me. Just because she changes her mood doesn't necessarily indicate instability. It sounds like she and you were in a very intense moment due to your past history. I would think you would be happier with someone less volatile. Don't judge her if you don't understand her.
