Question: What are the symtoms of a breathing related sleep disorder ? Can they mimic ADD?
Answer: I think you may mean "sleep-related breathing disorder". You may be thinking of sleep apnea and obstructive sleep apnea. They have nothing whatsoever to do with Attention Deficit Disorder and the symptoms bear no resemblance to those of any attention deficit.Symptoms can include abrupt awakening with a gasping or breathless sensation; moderate to heavy snoring especially when in a supine position; intermittant cessations of respiration lasting anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds with or without snoring; and abnormal daytime fatigue and lack of energy sometimes to the point of falling asleep wherever one happens to be, including behind the wheel of a car.
