Sleep Disorder Symptoms

Question: Sleep Disorder ?My lady tells me she has trouble sleeping with me because I twitch and jump at night as if my muscles have periodic spasms. It was suggested I had restless leg syndrome but I don't have any of the normal waking symptoms, and the twitching isn't confined to just my legs. Also i don't have any pain

Answer: On a holistic note: if your doctor cannot find a clinical diagnosis my advice would be to evaluate your diet. If you are lacking in calcium this can cause muscle spasms in the legs. Often times physicians will even prescribe a calcium supplement in the event of muscle cramping in the legs.If you don't drink milk, or eat dairy products that equal a thousand milligrams of calcium a day you are starving your body of this calming mineral. Think of how much your body needs as it is constantly rebuilding bone and using it in muscle contractions. Sleep is often interrupted when stimulants such as coffee are consumed too much. Caffeine binds to the calcium in your digestive tract and prevents absorption so you may need even more in your diet if you have more than a couple cups of coffee- especially with low calcium consumption. Colas such as coke or diet colas have phosphates which bind to make an insoluble form of calcium. Many people are deficiant in this mineral which can result in muscle cramping.
